ABOUT AMK PRODUCTIONS

Anya Mckenzie is an accomplished programmer and producer with more than 10 years of experience working in the cultural, film and media industries. Anya brings a global and diverse perspective to her work that stems from her family roots in the Caribbean, her work in international humanitarian aid and her studies in film. She is passionate about telling stories that combine art and social consciousness, and speak to our shared human experiences. Anya uses her strategic focus and expertise to facilitate successful creative collaborations that lead to compelling content for the global market.

 

Anya entered the film world with her post as Managing Director of Toronto’s ReelWorld Film Festival. She went on to Co-Produce her first independent short film, The Age of Infection (2004) followed by her role as Associate Producer for Love’s A Gamble (2005), made for CHUM TV and developed with Telefilm. Earlier in her career, Anya honed her skills in dramatic storytelling with the CBC, where she worked with the award winning shows DA VINCI'S INQUEST, ZEDTV and ROYAL CANADIAN AIRFARCE.

 

Following her years in digital content programming and acquisitions for TELUS and Bell Media, Anya returned to creative producing establishing AMK Productions in 2013.

 

She co-produced the short film FIVE DOLLARS (2012), which premiered at TIFF KIDS 2013 and was selected for the Cannes66 Film Festival Short Film Corner. Most recently, as a Producer in Residence at the CFC (Canadian Film Centre), she began incubating two  feature projects, including the dark fairytale FARA being developed with writer/director Arshad Khan and FAST CAR, being developed with director Reza Dhaya and writer Chris Chromie. Her TV projects include a lifestyle series and a dramatic, historical mini-series.
